The Winchester Royal Hotel has won a Gold award for its newly-designed website in the annual W3 Awards.

Only relaunched in May, winchesterroyalhotel.com has now landed the prestigious prize in the Hotel and Lodging for Websites category from amongst thousands of entrants.

In their 12th year, the W3 Awards, sanctioned and judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), honours creative excellence on the web and recognises the people behind award-winning websites. More than 5,000 entries were submitted into this year’s competition with less than 10% selected as Gold Winners.

Louis Rigney, General Manager of The Winchester Royal Hotel was delighted with the news. He said: “We know the importance of having a good website for a hotel, which is why we invest time and money into it.

“An award of this calibre is very pleasing given the prestigious nature of who judges it. However, we know that any digital platform can’t stand still, which is why we’ll continue to work hard to ensure the content continues to improve and back up a great design and build from Superrb.

The Winchester Royal Hotel website was build and designed by Superrb, an independent digital creative agency on Hayling Island, Hampshire.

Matt Pilkington, Managing Director of Superrb said: “This was our first hotel website, so we’re delighted to receive an award. It was great to deliver the entire project, right from creating the logo, choosing the fonts through to building the website and designing menus and other printed assets.

“The hotel team were great to work with and were kind enough to let us pick our own team of creatives to collaborate with. These included photographer Chris Orange and illustrator Matthew Midgley who were a perfect fit and helped make the project a success.
