The Winchester Royal Hotel has raised £130 for charity following a successful Macmillan Coffee Morning, held at the hotel on Friday 28 September.
Every year cancer support charity, Macmillan, encourage venues all over the country to take part and create the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. With many local residents joining hotel guests and staff for a coffee and a cake, the hugely-popular charity event was a great success.
Louis Rigney, General Manager of The Winchester Royal Hotel said: “It was great to see so many people joining us at the hotel in raising money for an extremely worthwhile cause.
“We asked everyone to make a £1.50 donation when they arrived, but most people actually donated more. We significantly beat last year’s total, which is obviously very pleasing.”
Macmillan are aiming to exceed last year’s national fundraising total of £27 million and add to a figure in excess of £200 million raised since the first coffee morning back in 1990.
Louis added: “As a business, we’re always trying to do our little bit for charity – whether it’s national like this one for Macmillan, or for local causes like what our duty manager, Alex, is doing for the Royal Hampshire County Hospital.”
Alex McDowall will soon be ‘braving the shave’ to raise money for the Neonatal Unit at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, where three of his children received life-dependent care following pre-mature births. You can read more about Alex’s emotional story here.
