The Winchester Royal Hotel has been nominated for the ‘Outstanding Customer Service Award’ category in the new Staycation Awards.
Launched by i Newspaper and holidaycottages.co.uk to recognise the growing demand for top-class staycation holidays in the UK, the Staycation Awards aim to uncover the country’s best loved holiday hotspots of 2019.
Following an anonymous nomination by a former guest, the hotel will now be assessed against competitor venues by a panel of prestigious judges with the winner being announced at the Staycation Awards on Thursday 21st November at St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London.
Louis Rigney, General Manager of the Winchester Royal Hotel, was pleasantly surprised with the nomination. He said: “I have to say this nomination came a bit out of the blue… we received an email informing us that a ‘member of the public’ had put our name forward for the ‘Outstanding Customer Service Award’ category.
“I’m very aware of i newspaper and their recent venture with holidaycottages.co.uk to launch the Staycation Awards, but certainly didn’t expect a nomination in this fashion, so that’s very pleasing.”
The Winchester Royal Hotel is a perfect location for staycations, being just a very short walk from Winchester city centre. The hotel also boasts its own luxury town house for those wanting private accommodation during their visit to Hampshire.
The Bake House is a completely standalone property that can sleep up to eight people in four separate double bedrooms and also has comfortable lounge and dining areas, kitchen and three bathrooms.
Louis added: “Our Bake House, which we sell via Airbnb as a standalone private town house, is perfect location for staycations and I suspect this nomination came through one our many satisfied guests who have stayed with us.
“We work hard to make sure all of our guests enjoy their stay, but it’s naturally very important to make those sure staying for a weekend or longer made to feel extra welcome.
“The Bake House is a fantastic, and very popular, facility and ideal for larger groups who want their own space in a private house, but also enjoy the comforts and facilities of a great hotel like the Winchester Royal.”
